As part of its work to recognize Hunger Action Month – observed each September – Subway is teaming up with food banks across our region, and the nation, to deliver meals to those in need. It is part of the company’s ‘Feeding the Need’ initiative.
The initiative hopes to deliver 200,000 meals to Bay Area food banks aligned with Feeding America throughout the month. Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, located in San Jose, is among those receiving the meal donations.
To support this effort, any Subway guest can purchase a sub, salad, or wrap with any drink and chips or cookies. For every two meals purchased, Subway restaurants will donate a meal to local food banks in the region.
Nancy Curby, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Feeding America, said, “The funds raised through this campaign will help local food banks better serve children and families who may not know where they will find their next meal.”
One local franchisee of Subway, Akki Patel, who owns 60 Subway restaurants in the area and represents more than 900 total locations, highlighted the role the franchises play in supporting local communities.
Patel said, “We are delighted to be empowering each of our franchises to partner with their loyal customers to make a difference right in their own neighborhood.”
